Customassembly kit

An object handed over flat, that your audience puts together itself. We design the parts so they clip together, write the instructions, make the box and print the run.

That is what we did for Thales with the CAPTAS-4 kit: a scale model of a towed sonar turned into a construction kit handed out at events, in a run of fifty.

The offer in detail

Designed to be assembled

Parts clip together without glue or tools, and a part cannot go in the wrong way round. The prototype is assembled and taken apart again before the run starts.

Printed instructions

The instructions are drawn from the 3D model, step by step: the kit goes together without us, and without a manual anyone has to decipher.

Bespoke packaging

The box is sized on the flat-packed parts, so it fits in a trade-show bag or ships by post without packing out empty space.

A checked run

Every unit is inspected before it is packed. Parts can come out in two colours, with no painting or gluing after printing.

What is in the box

The same model in the three states a kit goes through: the separate parts, the joints that connect them, and the assembled object.

  1. Exploded view of a submarine model: the hull in six aligned sections, the two-part sail above, brass connectors between each piece and the stand below
    Every part, laid flat
  2. Three sub-assemblies of the model brought close together, the snap-fit connectors visible on the faces about to meet
Snap-fit joints, no glue or tools
  3. The submarine model fully assembled, resting on its stand
    Assembled, on its stand

How it works

  1. 1

    Brief

What the kit has to represent, who receives it, and how many are needed.

  2. 2

    Prototype

One unit printed, assembled and taken apart with you before committing to the run.

  3. 3

    Instructions and box

The instructions are drawn from the model, the box sized on the parts.

  4. 4

    Run

    Printing, unit-by-unit inspection, packing.

Every project has its own quote

The price depends on the number of parts per kit, the size of the run and the packaging. Tell us what the kit has to represent, and for what occasion.
